Each federal state has its own test locations determined by the Federal Office for Refugees and Migration (BAMF). Each test attempt will cost you 25 euros.

The naturalization test consists of 33 questions. They are taken from a selection of 133 questions provided by the BAMF. Of these 33 questions, you must answer at least 17 questions correctly in order to pass the test. Successful completion of the test proves your knowledge of the law and society and living conditions in Germany.

The questions in the test come from three different areas specified by the BAMF. These areas are: Life in democracy, history and responsibility and people and society. The naturalization test contains questions that relate to the whole of Germany and special questions that relate exclusively and only to your federal state,
