New naturalization law: date set!

The new naturalization law in Germany brings significant changes for people seeking German citizenship. It allows for faster Naturalization naturalization after just three years for those who have a C1 language certificate and can demonstrate special educational or professional achievements. Others can be naturalized after five years, provided they meet the necessary requirements.

A prominent feature of this law is the introduction of dual citizenship, which allows you to keep your original passport. However, despite the law being published, it will not come into force until 27.06.2024. Naturalization applications made before this date could either be rejected immediately or not be considered at all, which could result in double naturalization fees. To avoid this risk, it is advisable to submit the naturalization application with the note that an appointment for Naturalization is only desired from the date of entry into force. This procedure not only speeds up the process, but also ensures an advantage compared to later applicants, as a rush to apply for Naturalization is expected from 27.06.2024.
