Refugee status is defined in § 25 para. 2 Residence Act described. The check is very simple. To do this, take your ID card and look at the bottom left to see exactly which Residence permit you have. Another way of checking is to look at your asylum decision, which you will certainly have received at some point. If it says that you have been granted refugee status, then you can be sure that you have refugee status.
