You have to pay a fee of 25 euros for each attempt at the naturalization test. The test locations are specified by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). The test consists of 33 questions. The test includes nationwide questions and specific questions relating to your federal state. You must answer at least 17 questions correctly to successfully complete the test.

The questions in the test are divided into three different areas. The topics are Life in a democracy, History and responsibility and People and society. By completing the test, you demonstrate the knowledge of the legal and social order in Germany and the living conditions in Germany required by §10 StAG.
