Is the new naturalization law really coming in 2024?

The video explains the latest changes to the German Naturalization Act. Contrary to the skepticism of many people, a completely new law is not being introduced, but the existing law is being amended. The most important changes are:

  1. Shortened naturalization period: The regular naturalization period will be reduced from eight to five years.
  2. Dual citizenship: Paragraph 10(1)(4), which previously prevented dual citizenship, will be deleted. From May 1, it will therefore be possible to obtain dual citizenship in Germany.
  3. Faster Naturalization: The fastest naturalization period is reduced from six to three years, but a C1 language certificate is required.

The video also refers to the link to the full draft law on the German Bundestag's homepage and provides further information on the website migrando.de. Viewers are encouraged to enter their own length of stay in Germany and their language certificate in the comments.
