What you absolutely need to know about the new Naturalization Act!

The video deals with the new Naturalization Act and provides important information for people who already have or will soon receive a naturalization certificate. The speaker explains three key points:

  1. Avoiding haste: If you quickly convert your assurance of naturalization into a naturalization certificate, you will not receive dual citizenship. Therefore, you should not do anything at the moment, as the new law is not yet in force and you would have to give up your old citizenship at the moment.
  2. Wait until May: The new Naturalization Act, which makes dual citizenship possible, comes into force on 1 May this year. Wait until then to apply for your naturalization certificate so that you don't have to give up your old citizenship.
  3. Duty to cooperate: Despite the current regulations that require you to surrender your old citizenship, you should inform the naturalization authority in writing that you are waiting for the new law and therefore do not wish to comply with your obligation to cooperate. Ask the authority if there are any problems with this procedure to ensure that you receive dual citizenship.
